La House est genre populaire constitu dun rythme "four-to-the-floor" (4/4), dune ligne de basse proche du funk et le plus souvent de vocals (phrases chantes) rptitives. Elle a pour but de crer un groove* l'aide d'instruments lectroniques qui sonnent toutefois rels, contrairement la Techno dont le rythme repose sur des instruments qui sonnent trs machines.

La House cherche par ailleurs transmettre un message de libert et de tolrance envers les exclus de la socit. Ses textes peuvent aussi tre trs sexuels.


House is the mother-genre of the greater part of electronic musics. It consists of a "four-to-the-floor" (4/4) beat, of a bass line close to the disco and the funk, and mostly of repetitive vocals (sung phrases). It aims to create a groove* with the aid of electronic instruments that however tend to sound acoustic, unlike the Techno whose beat is based on instruments sounding very "machine-like".

House also seeks to convey a message of freedom and tolerance toward the excluded by society. Its lyrics can also be very sexual.

La structure rythmique de base de la House provient des batteurs de disco des annes 60s 80s : un kick* sur chaque temps, un hat* en contretemps et un clap* sur les temps pairs.

Les producteurs chantillonnaient des sons de batteries pour les priver de leurs moyennes frquences afin de mettre en valeur des sonorits que lon entend peu en acoustique pure. Les lignes de basses sont cres soit par des synthtiseurs, soit chantillonnes partir dinstruments enregistrs en studio ou de morceaux existants (souvent de disco au dbut). Ces basses sont ensuite filtres afin d'en extraire les harmoniques* qui vont permettre une meilleures cohsion de l'ensemble.

La House inclut des voix issues du disco, de la soul ou du gospel, et des percussions "africanisantes" comme le tambourin ou les maracasses. On y trouve galement des chantillons filtrs de jazz, de blues ou encore de Synthpop.

The basic rhythmic structure on the House comes from disco drummers of the 60s to the 80s: a kick* on each beat, a hat on the half-beats and a clap every 2 beats.

Back in the days, producers sampled drums sounds to deprive them of their mid frequencies in order to enhances sounds that we cannot hear in pure acoustics. The bass lines are created either by synthesizers or sampled instruments recorded in a studio or samples of existing songs (often disco at first). These basses are then filtered to extract the harmonics* that will allow a better cohesion of the whole.

House includes voices from disco, soul and gospel, and "africanism-like" percussions as the tambourine or maracasses. Samples of jazz, blues or Synthpop may also likely be found in House.

La House est apparue dans la ville de Chicago au dbut des annes 80s.

Son nom fait rfrence la fois au "Warehouse", club o se produisait DJ Frankie Knuckles (pionnier du genre), mais aussi au fait que cest une musique joue et enregistre la maison, grce des instruments lectroniques tels quun synthtiseur, une boite rythme, un squenceur et un chantillonneur (sampler).

Elle descend du disco des annes 1970, mais elle mlange aussi beaucoup de genres parmi lesquels : le jazz, la soul, le rnb, le funk, la salsa, le rock, la pop...

Elle vhicule un message progressiste de pro-diversit.


Chronologie :

Cest aux alentours de 1980, en mixant deux exemplaires dun mme titre disco que les DJ de Chicago inventrent la premire forme de House, mais cest en crant leur propres rythmes quils donnrent rellement naissance la House.

La House sest aussi beaucoup dveloppe en parallle en Grande Bretagne, surtout lors du "Second Summer of Love" entre 1988 et 1989.

Aux US, le genre a trs vite atteint Detroit (berceau de la Techno) puis New York, qui insuffla alors lesprit hip-hop et reggae dans la house de Chicago, ce qui mena l'apparition de la Guetto et de la Garage House (cf. sous-genres).

La House gagna alors le monde entier, notamment lorsque Madonna sortit en 1990 le single Vogue trs empreint de House. Les rave party senchainrent, tel point que la justice pnale Britannique a interdit en 1994 les manifestations de danse pulsations rptitives suite aux dbordements, ce qui naura que peu deffet.

La fin des annes 1990 verra l'mergence de la French House notamment avec les Daft Punk.

Dans la deuxime moiti des annes 2000, ce fut lElectro House qui vit le jour.

De nos jours, de nouveaux sons trs distordus, abrasifs et grsillants sont apparus, et c'est en les ajoutant la House que naquirent le Hardcore et l'Electro House.

La Sude connait une heure de gloire avec des DJ comme Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, Steve Angello (Swedish House Mafia), ou encore Alesso et Avicii qui participrent l'apparition de la Swedish Progressive House.

La House est donc la pice matresse et racine commune de la plupart des musiques modernes.


The House has appeared in the city of Chicago in the early 80s years.

The House then gained the whole world, especially when Madonna came out in 1990 marked the very "Vogue" single from House. The rave was chained to the point that the criminal justice Columbia banned in 1994 the dance events "repetitive beats" following the overflow, which will have little effect.

late 1990 will see the emergence of French House notably Daft Punk.

In the second half of the 2000s, this was the Electro House born.

Today, new very distorted, abrasive and sizzling sounds emerged, and this is by adding them to the House were born Hardcore and Electro House.

Sweden is experiencing a heyday with DJs like Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, Steve Angello (Swedish House Mafia), or Avicii and Alesso who participated in the development of the Swedish Progressive House.

The House is the centerpiece and common root of most modern music room.

- La Chicago House : forme originelle de la House, comportant beaucoup de vocals et de samples d'instruments acoustiques (piano, guitare funk, guitare seche...), suivant des grooves courts et dansants.

- L' Acid House : dsigne toutes les musiques House utilisant les sonorits acidules* du synthtiseur Roland TB-303*. Lemblme de lAcid House est un smiley jaune. Phuture (fond par DJ Pierre) est un pionnier du genre, notamment avec acid tracks.

- La Funky House : dsigne la house provenant beaucoup plus du funk que du disco, pouvant contenir plus dinstruments acoustiques que la Chicago House. Elle comporte galement beaucoup de voix.

- La Garage House (US Garage) : sa production est prsent teinte aprs avoir connu un certain succs au US dans les annes 80s et en Angleterre dans les annes 90s. Ce style descendait directement du disco, avec des voix de gospel, souvent du piano. Elle a beaucoup influenc la House en gnral. Son nom provient du club "Paradise Garage" o mixait DJ Larry Levan (pionnier du genre).

- Le UK Garage (Speed Garage) : similaire la Garage House, donc trs disco, mais diffre par son tempo plus rapide, ses syncopes et ses nombreux effets. Elle connait actuellement une relle explosion, lie au succs de ses sons de tles dissonantes spcifiques du UK Garage d'aujourd'hui.

- La Guetto House : elle est alimente dun chant hip-hop, de scratch et de samples. "The Percolator" de Cajmere en est l'archtype.

- La G-House (ou Gangster House) : variante moderne de la Guetto House, rebaptise par le duo marseillais Amin Edge & DANCE. On la dcrit techniquement comme l'intersection du UK Garage et de la Deep House : les basses rondes de la Deep House avec une lgre dissonnance et un motif rythmique propre au UK Garage, le tout sur un beat de Tech House un poil labor la manire du UK Garage galement. On dira plus simplement que ce sous-genre a toutes les caractristiques du UK Garage sauf ses sons de tles caractristiques qui ont t remplacs par des basses plus "profondes" de Deep House.
Son nom se justifie par les paroles ou les punch-lines souvent prsentes, voquant les sujets que l'on associe une vie de gangsters (argent, proxnetisme, drogue...). Ce sous-genre est trs en vogue dernirement.

- La Latin House : House agrmente de chants, intruments et rythmes latins. Le grqnds classiques est de retrouver des trompettes et des guitares sches espagnoles qui accompagnent un des chants hispanniques, qu'ils soient traditionnels (choeurs d'hommes) ou plus rcent (crooner proches des chanteur de r'n'b). Edward Maya est un bon reprsentant de ce style.

- La Witch House : variante occulte de la House qui joue sur les syncopes et les sons industriels, sur un fond de prires mystiques chantes ou prosodies (murmures). on remarque une nette diffrence du tempo et du rythmes de ce sous-genre par rapport tous les autres au sein de la House : en effet, le tempo peut descendre jusqu' 90 bpm et le rythme peut tre compltement syncop la manire du Breakbeat.
Il en rsulte que ce genre n'a parfois de "house" que le nom, ce qui en fait un outsider qui n'emploie l'appellation "house" que pour dsigner l'aspect lectronique de toute musique ayant un thme mystico-religieux.

- Acid House: is all music using House tart sounds* synthesizer Roland TB-303*. The emblem of Acid House is a yellow smiley. Phuture (founded by DJ Pierre) is a pioneer of the genre, including with "acid tracks."

- Funky House: is the house from a lot more funk than disco, which can contain more acoustic instruments that Chicago House. It also features many voices.

- Garage House (US Garage): output is now off after experiencing some success in the 80s US years in England in the 90s. This style was a direct descendant of disco, with voices of gospel, often piano. It has greatly influenced the House in general. Its name comes from the club "Paradise Garage" where DJ Larry Levan (pioneer of the genre) was mixing.

- UK Garage (Speed Garage): similar to the Garage House, very disco, but differs in its faster tempo, syncopation and its many effects. She is currently experiencing a real explosion, following the success of its specific sounds dissonant sheets of UK Garage today.

- Ghetto House: it is powered by a hip-hop song from scratch and samples. "The Percolator" of Cajmere is the archetype.

- G-House (or Gangster House ): Modern variant of Ghetto House, renamed the Marseille duo Amin Edge & DANCE. She is described technically as the intersection of the UK Garage and Deep House: the low round of the Deep House with a slight dissonance and a clean rhythm pattern to UK Garage, all on a beat Tech House developed a hair in the style of UK garage also. - Witch House : occult variant of the House that plays on syncope and industrial sounds, on a background of mystical prayers sung or prosodies (whispered). there is a marked difference to the tempo and rhythm of this sub-genre over all others in the House, in fact, the tempo can drop to 90 bpm and syncopated rhythm may be completely in the manner of Breakbeat Breakbeat .
As a result, this kind of sometimes "house" as the name, making it an outsider who does not use the term "house" than to describe the electronic aspect of any music with a mystical-religious theme .
